TALK
The talks will discuss selected topics that are relevant to Project Glocal, DAC and our partners in Malaysia.  The goal for this activity is for the hosts and the guests to exchange opinions and find connection in our experiences. For visiting artists, their presentation will focus on presenting their portfolio and if already possible, their work intention for their 2-weeks residency.

Title: “Transient Penang: Heritage in Contemporary”

This session will introduce "Transi(en)t Penang" project headed by lead Project Glocal curator, Dayang and local curator Suzy. Invited artists, Jaffa, Shih-Tung and Anjo will share their past works and intentions, expectations as they embark on their 2-week short term residency in Penang.

Title: “Project Glocal: Curators’ Collaborations with / in communities”

Description:
Collaboration calls for two or more parties to negotiate an ideal. It can be rather taxing and draining during the negotiation stages of such a practice but many times, this moment of destabilization generates “dynamic creativity”. Also, Project Glocal curators, Marika Constantino and Rikey Cheng will present their contemporary practices that largely engage in community-based collaboration projects.

Description:
DAC Festival largely consists of commission works conceived and initiated by its curators. With the theme Be(r)kongsi, the curators will discuss “sharing, networking and collaboration” within the context of a heritage city. They will lead several commission site-specific works to express Penang’s challenging and fluctuating built environment. The projects presented by the curators are both a form of spatial critique as well as an active social intervention.
